Getting broken into, door dings, having your vehicle vandalized; these are just some of the things we worry about when parking or precious cars. We all know how damaging these can be but what about the minerals in water? Did you know that parking under a dripping ceiling in a parking garage could be just as damaging to your vehicle? Think of it like water spots you would get on your car if you washed it and didn’t dry it…times 10. Last week we had a Saturn Vue come in who had done just that. What initially looked like a car that had been driven around on roads that had been salted for the winter turned out to be something very different. Even after thorough wash, most of it remained bonded to the paint. When the water from the parking garage evaporated off the paint, it left significant and stubborn mineral deposits on the paints finish and was in dire need of an auto detailing. Most of which was no trouble for the guys at NorthWest Auto Salon but some of it actually ate straight though the clear coat in the paint! Make sure this never happens to your car and be mindful of where you park your car!
