Dull paint can make an otherwise perfect car, not “pop” the way it once did. Sometimes all a car needs is a little auto detailing to really revitalize its look. The BMW E30 M3 is one of the most celebrated sports cars of its day. With its lightweight body, flared fenders and racing heritage, the E30 is also the most collectible M3 to date. However due to the fact that these cars are over 20 years old, most cars with original paint are in need of some serious paint correction. This vehicle was no exception. While it was rust free and mechanically sound, it really needed a partial interior detail (not on the freshly redyed leather) and enthusiast detail to complete the whole package.
While silver is a very hard car to see scratches in, with the correct lighting it is possible to bring out those imperfections.
Step one, even before correction can begin, is to removed any left over surface contaminants with a with a clay bar treatment
The next step in the process of bringing this paint back to life is the polishing stage. Depending on what package the customer ordered, this could include several different levels of polishing. Because this was an enthusiast detail, it received a two stage machine polish with Menzerna polish to remove residual protection, remove paint defects, restore brilliance and shine.
Inspecting the paint part way through the process to measure the level of correction being achieved
After the entire vehicle was polished, it was time to cover it with a protective sealant to ensure the paint would be protected from the elements until it came in for another service.
And after all that has been done, the vehicle is ready to be returned to the customer. Check out these photos to see the kind of correction we were able to achieve on this vehicle.
