Lamborghini has been bringing about some pretty massive changes to their line-up as of late. This year alone, we saw the release a few hyper-level exotics, including the incredibly rare Lamborghini Egoista, the race-bred Veneno & topless Veneno Roadster, as well as the introduction of Lamborghini’s very first hybrid concept, the Asterion. At the forefront of it all, we find the replacement for one of the legendary bull’s most accessible supers – a new people’s champ, ready to challenge the best selling Lamborghini in recorded history.
There had been talk of a Verde Mantis Lamborghini Huracán spotted on the prowl around the Capitol Hill area, and soon enough, we had confirmation. The car arrived at our doors with only a few miles on the odometer and with the owner ready to up the ante. This being one of the first Huracáns to call the NW home, there was no way a simple paint protection package would suffice. Much like our recent Ghibil VF wrap, we opted for a Total Coverage XPEL Stealth paint protection package that was sure to set off body lines of the Huracán while bringing the Verde Mantis to life!
To start the Huracán off right, we pulled it into the wash bay for the first stage of our New Car Detail process. 24 steps later, the Lambo had been through a hand wash and was ready for clay bar decontamination. While it probably seems a bit silly to be detailing a brand new exotic like the Huracán, even the latest & greatest automobiles can come with a few flaws from hasty delivery.
Under a flashlight, it was pretty easy to spot some minor swirls and scratches in the paint & plastics. Small flaws are easily masked by a bold color or heavy flake like that found in Verde Mantis, and just as easily removed with a little dedication. After all, we wouldn’t want to be sealing even the lightest blemishes under paint protection that’s warrantied for up to 10 years!
Josh had no problem eliminating the Huracán’s imperfections with a quick single stage of polish. It’s an essential step to any New Car Detail we schedule, and a definite prerequisite for clients seeking even the most basic XPEL paint protection package for their new vehicle.
Soon enough, it was time to position the Huracán in the install bay so Tim could begin applying the first few pieces of Stealth paint protection. We thought we were going to like the look of a satin Verde Mantis finish before we even started, and as soon as the squeegee made the first pass our suspicions had been confirmed. This Huracán wrap would definitely be causing a stir upon completion!
With a lack of patterned data available & an incredibly angular exterior, the Lamborghini Huracán was sure to be an involved installation. From what we can tell, there have only been a handful of XPEL Stealth wrapped Huracáns that have hit the streets since SEMA, and without a doubt this is the first in the NorthWest. It took some time to digitize every inch of the Lamborghini & ensure all panels would be wrapped with maximum coverage in mind, but now we’re well prepared to go gale force on any Huracán that’s ready to experience a higher standard of XPEL paint protection.
Tim worked his way over the Lambo, making sure the fit & finish of XPEL Stealth would be spot on. The installation didn’t consume nearly as much film as the Total Coverage XPEL Ultimate wrap we completed on a rare Rosso Effesto Aventador last year, but the process was just as involved.
Once a majority of the Stealth had been finished off, it was time to set to work on customizing the Huracán with a few minor vinyl wrap accent pieces. We had bounced around the idea of a full snout black-out, accentuating the upper ducts with a matte black inlay and going for a SV-styled side skirt wrap, but we settled on something a little more familiar to the Huracán’s predecessor. Something that felt a little less “Veloce” & a little more “Leggera.”
The completed look is bold, but not overstated. We integrated minimal gloss black vinyl inlays on the front lips, as well as a larger swath that matches the body line running across the door & into the rear duct. Topping it off, a simple Italian flag pinstripe spans the length of the lower accent & dips into the angular inlet in front of the large rear haunches.
To tie it all together, we also blacked out the front & rear badges, and integrated a small Goyard-esque tricolor graphic element placed right up the front window pillars. It’s nothing crazy, but it’s a great example of the little touches that separate wraps like this from the rest!
There’s no doubting that the Huracán is quite a looker. From the back, the angular nature of its exterior is accentuated beautifully by the XPEL Stealth. The complexity of the Verde Mantis paint comes to life with an intense mix of greens, yellows, and plenty of metallic, only to be smoothed over with just the right amount of opalescent opacity. By combining just enough matte & gloss black to contrast the bold hue, our take on Lamborghini’s latest bull shaped up to be a real prized fighter!
Venture inside, and influences from the Aventador become a bit more present. Adorned with a bevy of aircraft style switches, toggles, and plenty of sharp edges, the guts of the Huracán carry over much of the aggression from the exterior, while creating a cockpit that immediately feels more exotic than the Gallardo it’s replacing. A little green contrast stitching ties the vibrant vibe together, adding a perfect pop of color to an otherwise spartan but functional cabin.
All it took was one XPEL Stealth install for us to fall in love with this little Lamborghini. The Gallardo has been a staple in the line-up for so long that it was hard to imagine it going away, but now that the storm has come, we couldn’t be more excited for the future of Lamborghini’s entry-level exotic. The Huracán is here to stay, and that means it’s time to look forward to every single special edition & homologated incarnate that make it to market.
