Mold on the interior of a car is unfortunately common. Although car manufacturers do their best to keep moisture from getting into your vehicle, over time, seals wear out and eventually it can happen. That or sometimes you just forget to roll your windows up during a rain storm. Either way, if water makes its way inside, it is easy to see how mold and other bacteria can spring to life in your beloved vehicle. Mold isn’t just an eyesore though. It can be extremely hazardous to one’s health. “In 2004 the Institute of Medicine (IOM) found there was sufficient evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and wheeze in otherwise healthy people (cdc.gov).” This is where our Ozone machine comes in. Ozone is a molecule with three atoms of oxygen and, when one reacts with organic matter like mold, it causes a kind of oxidation that effectively kills the mold on a molecular level. While this will alleviate the smell and make the vehicle safe again (after given time to air the ozone itself out); this is only the first step to revitalizing this vehicles interior. In this case, the Ozone process had to be done first in order to make it safe enough for our guys to get to work.
The next step was to go though the painstaking process of physically removing the mold with our Mold Remediation Process. This Suburban was above and beyond what I would have ever imagined if someone told me they “had mold in their car.” The interior was literally covered with mold to the point I almost felt sick taking the photos. Luckily for the owner though, the guys had it covered with their Mold Remediation! Check out these before pictures to get an idea of how much mold there really was!
Heavy build up of car mold around the cup holder.
There was literally mold everywhere! As daunting as the tasked looked though, the guys got to work and achieved amazing results.
As you can see, there was a tremendous transformation for this vehicle from something unsafe to be in, to something the owner could actually drive again. For more information on our mold removal & remediation services, CONTACT US or check out the mold removal service FAQ here!
