As most Porsche owners know, rock guards are a staple to keeping a curvacious exterior looking pristine. Whether we’re talking classic 911s with black vinyl fender pieces, or a brand new 50th Anniversary Edition needing a full coverage clear bra install, every P-car can benefit from paint protection. Unfortunately, there will come a time when a well-intentioned protection package is in dire need of replacement due to film failure, yellowing, and age, and if your rock guards look anything like the ones left on this Porsche Cayman, that time is now!

We started the Cayman off with our signature 24-step hand wash to prep it for a Full Frontal XPEL install.

Once she was all cleaned up, we moved her into the clear bra bay so Tim could set to work removing the old, yellowing rock guards and fit the entire front end with some custom cut paint protection. As you can see in the image above, the original guards are extremely discolored & borderline brown; beyond the tinted film, the rock guards looked muddled, foggy, and had clearly seen better days.

Once the Full Frontal paint protection package had been installed, we cut out some fresh XPEL rock guards and fit them in the exact spot as the old ones. The difference between the original rock guard & the new XPEL Ultimate guard is absolutely staggering.

The level of clarity is incredible, and if you didn’t look close, you might not be able to see the replacement rock guards at all!

Outside in the sunlight, the new paint protection almost disappears completely. If the aesthetic difference of new rock guards vs. old rock guards isn’t enough for you to want to upgrade the paint protection on your Porsche, keep in mind that XPEL Ultimate has self-healing properties to help prevent scratches, damage, and showing wear over the ages.
